MIRROR IN THE CAMP – The new CD!
HALLOWELL, ME — Lewiston guitarist and singer-songwriter Denny Breau will celebrate the release of his sixth CD, “Mirror in the Camp,” a collection of 10 original songs and twoclassic covers, at Slates Restaurant on Monday, Nov. 14.
With “Mirror in the Camp” Breau has also given his fans plenty of smokin’ guitar playing. “People are always asking me to do a guitar recording, so I put a lot of guitar on this one,” Breau said.
The album pays tribute to some of Breau’s favorite Maine destinations, including Biddeford Pool and the Grace Bailey, a windjammer based in Camden Harbor. The title track is an evocative portrait of the Breau family growing up and growing older as viewed through the mirror during annual camp vacations.
And in “Pot Roast,” Breau describes his favorite food in mouth-watering terms.
“Acadie” pays homage to his French-Canadian roots while “She’s Gone” and “Look Up at Me” are a tribute to the country and bluegrass music he learned from his parents, Betty Cody and Hal Lone Pine.
“Old Friends” is a tribute to friends who have passed on as well as those still in his life. Some of those friends – Frank Coffin, Dave Rowe, Paul Mellyn, Tom Zicarelli and Breau’s wife, Ann – add instrumentals and backing vocals to the CD.
